When your character falls in battle, that character is permanently gone — all its level, gear and progression are lost. You do keep an account-level progression layer, and your fallen character converts into Valor Tokens, a currency you spend on cosmetics and power-ups for your next run. This is the core roguelike loop: each death teaches you something and funds the character that comes after it.

Valor Tokens are the death currency in Pixel Quest. When a character dies, you earn Valor Tokens based on its progression, and you spend them on cosmetics, power-ups and account-wide boosts that make your next character stronger. They give permadeath a real trade-off — losing a character always leaves you with something to invest in the next one.

Open the in-game chat and type /code followed by the code, for example /code DESERTTREE. Codes grant free Infusions, Dungeon Keys, skins and other rewards. Some codes expire or are limited to a number of redemptions, so redeem new codes as soon as they drop and check our active codes page for the latest list.

The Archer is the most new-player-friendly class because Bows let you kite enemies and stay out of the bullet-hell danger zone while dealing strong boss DPS. The Warrior is a close second for its balance of damage and survivability. For your first run, pick a ranged weapon and prioritize survivability until you learn enemy patterns.

Dungeon Keys drop from bosses, chests and quest rewards, and a few codes hand out keys directly. Keys are required to unlock deeper dungeon content, so farm the easy dungeons early to build up a key stockpile. Your first easy dungeon run with friends is the best way to learn the key-and-reward loop.

Legendaries drop from bosses, elite enemies and chests across dungeons and the overworld. With over 200 unique legendaries in the game, the fastest way to chase them is to farm the highest-tier boss you can comfortably clear. Higher-risk bosses and deeper dungeons have better legendary drop tables.

Both work, but co-op makes dungeon clearing significantly safer — teammates can revive you, split enemy aggro and cover the bullet-hell dodging. Solo play is a great way to learn patterns at your own pace. Most players use co-op for dungeons and boss farms, and solo for overworld questing and farming.

Pixel Quest is in ALPHA and receives updates every weekend, typically adding or rebalancing bosses, dungeons, weapons and quests. Because the game changes weekly, community tier lists and guides are updated to match. Check the official Discord for patch notes and the latest balance changes.
